Foundation Session
A comprehensive approach to understanding and supporting your horse.
A complete, individualized session that brings assessment, hands-on work, and practical recommendations together in one appointment.
A strong foundation begins with understanding how the pieces fit together.
The Foundation Session looks at your horse through a whole-horse lens. Rather than assessing movement, the body, saddle fit, equipment, management, and the rider in isolation, I look at how those pieces relate to and influence one another.
By evaluating the pieces together, patterns and relationships become easier to recognize—providing a clearer understanding of what may be happening and where attention should be focused.
That understanding can provide clarity around a specific question or concern, or establish the baseline for ongoing support through a Performance Plan.
What to Expect
Foundation Sessions are intentionally thorough and unhurried. There is time to observe your horse, discuss what you're seeing and experiencing, work through questions as they arise, and adjust the session based on what we find along the way.
No two sessions look exactly the same because no two horses need exactly the same thing.
Your Appointment Includes
A detailed discussion of your horse's history, goals, and concerns
A review of your horse’s diet and nutrition
Comprehensive movement and functional assessment, both in-hand and under saddle (when appropriate)
Evaluation of saddle fit and equipment, including on-site adjustments when appropriate.
Individualized hands-on bodywork based on your horse’s needs
A review of findings, priorities, and individualized recommendations
Guidance for next steps, including collaboration with other professionals when appropriate
TWO WAYS TO BEGIN
Standalone Foundation Session
Looking for a comprehensive assessment, a second opinion, or clarity around a specific concern? A Foundation Session can be booked on its own.
Beginning a Performance Plan
Every Performance Plan begins with a Foundation Session. If you enroll in a plan, this becomes the first appointment of your plan.
Is the Foundation Session right for your horse?
This appointment is ideal if you:
✓ Have a specific question or concern and aren't sure where to start.
✓Have noticed a change in your horse's movement, comfort, behavior, or performance.
✓ Want a comprehensive second opinion or another experienced set of eyes.
✓ Have questions about saddle fit, equipment, or how they may be affecting your horse.
✓ Are establishing a baseline for a new horse, a return to work, or ongoing performance.
✓ Have received different or conflicting opinions and need help making sense of the bigger picture.
✓ Aren't sure which professional should be your next call.
This isn't simply a bodywork appointment or saddle fitting. It's a comprehensive whole-horse consultation that connects each piece to help you better understand your horse and confidently determine the next steps.
